turdyeight

well, i just made it around the sun 38 times. so roughly the earth is in the same position as it was 38 years ago...I've spun around on the earth's axis 13870 times around. I will be breaking 14000 times this year. so crazy. yet no one got nude at the little happening here at my house. Some good friends came over to drink and hung out. We played some Holy Modal Rounders albums, some Sun Ra albums...Dave tried his best to make a fire out back with all the cold rain and mist about. funny thing thou, his ride needed to go and as soon as he left, the fire started to stick. no one was around it...lone fire.

One thing I have been thinking about today is how performing arts or the arts in general can set the boundaries of what is acceptable behavior...then I thought how much nudity in art there is in general seems to be the main catalyst, the main ingredient of what cannot be seen outside of art. One can goto an art opening where a performance artist is nude and playing with his own poo and rolling around in a basin on used condoms and people will not be able to take their eyes off of it. Put that same naked person doing the same thing in an alley and the person can get arrested for indecent exposure. maybe even considered dangerous. the real trick is do show thru art (which seems to be the main vehicle for this sort of thing unlike pluming or drag racing) to make people want to mock it in everyday life...it would start where the artist does something and the people watching it does the same and they are encouraged to. An openness needs to be there for that to happen.. I said in my last post that art is a nice wall from seeming perverted when ya get a wiener free and flapping around for all to see. but this wall must be moved further away from the artist to also include the people watching. I've seen this happen over that last few years in skarekrau and to a lesser degree with lone tree (a band where me and a friend ran around with only mud over ourselves while playing a bunch of home made electronics and junk). Sometimes we find ourselves naked which seems to be expected from us now. But we soon found other people...people we don't know...to take their clothes off and dance around us. It made the whole thing more festive...the best example if our show over the Mississippi river..nude people of both sexes were dancing to our fuckery. I do hope it continues to the point where maybe one day we can organize an all nude party with bands and dancing with all the sexual overtones... I think people would come away from it feeling a bit freer and more comfortable with themselves. but this all has to start with some creative maneuvers...and all of this is not just limited to nudity...but with social and political issues as well... It's really too bad here in the USA we have such shame..the Midwest is the worst of it. but I feel any kinda change in the shame would have to come from the Midwest (from the center) to be taken seriously. the coasts are pretty written off as silly children playing with issues ..just drawing attention to themselves. You know how people say only the weirdest shit comes from the Midwest...or even Texas...ya know more socially conservative areas... it's just because it's just not as expected and people tend to look at it more with a less cynical orb. So I think we just have to show more of ourselves...and that box cannot be opened until artists start to do the same...

don't worry friends ...I don't think I'll talk about naked people all the time. but I think I might want to see you naked..... well maybe some of you...
